Owner Sustains Injury After Neighbor’s Dogs Attack Pet

A Leoma resident sustained injury during the weekend while trying to render aid to her pet, injured in an attack by her neighbor’s dogs.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the emergency room at Crockett Hospital Saturday afternoon after the victim came in for medical care.

The victim, age 63, reported she had been bitten in the face by her dog at her Old Pulaski Road, Leoma home. She had reported to deputies earlier in the day that her dog sustained injuries when attacked by a neighbor’s two bulldogs.

The victim told deputies that since the attack her dog had been lying on the front porch. She said that when she attempted to pick the dog up to render aid, her dog bit her on the left corner of the mouth.

Deputies noted that the victim’s bottom lip was “torn completely through down to her chin,” and due to the severity required numerous stitches to repair the damages.

Deputies made contact with the owner of the bulldogs. He told them he had already been made aware of the situation and expressed his intent to make contact with the victim and pay for any medical costs.
